Our firm, which initially focused on business transactions, was founded in 1982 by Peter McCausland and Gordon Keen, and the late Melvin Buckman joined the firm shortly thereafter. Over the following years, McCausland Keen + Buckman added additional attorneys and, with them, additional practice areas, including real estate, tax, litigation, public and private securities, and trusts and estates. Although none of the firm’s name partners remain with the firm, McCausland Keen + Buckman continues to flourish with twenty lawyers effectively serving publicly and privately held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, universities, and a host of other clients locally, regionally, and nationally.
McCausland Keen + Buckman has a strong tradition of community service and civic involvement in the Philadelphia metropolitan area and beyond. In addition to encouraging the professional development of our attorneys, paralegals and staff, members of our firm are elected and appointed governmental officials, sit on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations, and are deeply involved with numerous organizations dedicated to a variety of public issues, including those working to eradicate cancer, cure diseases through genetic research, preserve open space and hiking trails, promote the arts, as well as organizations striving to defend and protect civil and constitutional rights.
