Andrew Maguire | Philadelphia Outward Bound School
Outward Bound is the world's oldest and largest adventure-based education program. I am involved with the Philadelphia Outward Bound School, and I have participated in and raised funds for the School's signature event – a 30 story rappel down an office building in Philadelphia.
The Outward Bound School is committed to expanding the lives of its students through challenge and discovery. Many Outward Bound students are from urban environments and would not otherwise have access to outdoor activities. Through high ropes courses and other group activities, the School’s instructors emphasize team building in a supportive and cooperative environment.
The Philadelphia chapter provides opportunities to children in the Greater Philadelphia area. Through my own involvement, I have built lasting relationships with many fine people (instructors, administrators, donors and others) who keep the Outward Bound School going and have had the pleasure of witnessing the positive effects on the students who participate.
Andrew Maguire | Housing Partnership of Chester County
I am actively involved in the Housing Partnership of Chester County (HPCC), a non-profit organization which enables low-income individuals and families to attain long-term housing. The HPCC provides no-cost home repair to senior citizens and offers free home-buying and financial literacy programs to its constituents. Since 1988, the HPCC has been providing essentials for successful homeownership to residents in Chester County working to improve housing and the quality of life in the surrounding community through effective programs presented by their dedicated staff.
