Jim Logue | Inglis Foundation

Having grown up in the Philadelphia area, I knew Inglis existed, but I never knew anything about its work. About two weeks after I joined McCausland Keen + Buckman full-time in September of 1987, Gordon Keen invited me to an event at Inglis and I have been involved in one capacity or another ever since.

Inglis has a simple mission: To enable people with disabilities — and those who care for them — to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest. Among other things, Inglis operates a specialty nursing care facility providing long-term care for 240+ individuals with a range of physical disabilities, and provides medical care, therapy programs and social enrichment programs for residents in a person-centered care environment that seeks to maximize independence. Inglis also serves people living independently in the community through various support services and its adaptive technology program is a nationally acclaimed leader in that area. Inglis is the largest provider of affordable accessible housing in the Greater Philadelphia region for people with disabilities. All of these programs and services are life changing for those Inglis serves and the need is greater and greater each year.

I have been fortunate to serve in a number of different capacities over the past 30 years at Inglis and it will always be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In the early years, I helped organize a 5-mile running race and an annual winter party for the residents, followed by a stint on the Annual Giving Committee (including chair), co-chair of the Inglis Golf Outing for several years and, for the past seven years, service on the board, currently as chair.

I work with an amazing group of individuals on the board and the senior leadership at Inglis is comprised of some of the most capable and dedicated men and women I have ever known. I am one who believes the greatest “wealth” in life comes whenever one has the opportunity to pay it forward and this experience pays “dividends” in good times and bad. Working with so many bright, talented and caring people has taught me too many things to count. I have a much greater appreciation for the many good fortunes most of us enjoy every day of our lives and I never take that for granted.

I grew up in a family where we “had to give to get” and I know with certainty that I have gotten far more from my work at Inglis than I will ever give. I am proud to carry on the tradition of McCausland Keen + Buckman and Inglis.
